ELEANA- VO
Spoiler :
Helfort Manor stood on top of a hill. It was not too high, one could easily discern it at the bottom of the hill. It was fairly easy to climb, but to reach the summit was a fair hike.
Four children stood at the bottom of the hill, staring at the top of the hill.
"This is a bad idea." Juliet said for what seemed like the hundredth time.
"Juliet..." replied Ralph.
"Sorry, sorry."
They walked up the hill, advancing towards the mansion. A muddy path lead up to the Mansion’s garden.
"Are you sure about this guys?" asked Juliet.
"Pfff... It's just an abandoned mansion," answered Jordan.
Sylvia, followed at quite some distance behind the others, sulking. She was muttering "I hate this, I hate this bet. Nothing good can come of it."
The bet in question was issued by Jordan, and was to spend the night in a old, supposedly haunted mansion. The first to leave the mansion had to pay five pounds. Ralph never turned down a bet. The most likely to win was probably the latter. After all, it was just a mansion.
“Who was the owner of this place anyway?” asked Sylvia.
“An old man. He quite recently died abroad in Italy, actually.” Replied Jordan.
They finally arrived at the gates of the mansion, the doors were wide open. They stopped in front. They were hesitant to go in. Finally, Jordan, impatient, pushed Ralph in, who staggered into the gardens.
"Are you abso-" started Juliet. But she paused. Strange lights were shining from the windows in the attic of the mansion. But they were not normal lights. They were blue.
"Do you guys see that?" asked Sylvia.
Jordan nodded.
"This house is uninhabited.” said Juliet.
“The lightbulbs would have been removed…” muttered Ralph.
"Let's just get in." interrupted Jordan.
They all entered the mansion, and went through a long coridoor. Ralph was still leading the way, and finally found a large room, with the inscription DINING ROOM written above it in golden letters. They stepped prudently around, as if something was going to attack them at any moment. They observed their surroundings. A long table stood in the middle of the room, smashed, broken, dusty. The wallpaper was damp and ripped, giving off a sour stench. A battered chandelier hung off the ceiling, ready to fall at any moment. They all took their bags off their backs, and removed their individual sleeping bags from them.
Juliet went up to Ralph and whispered:
"Look Ralph... We all know what we saw, we should just leave."
"I know your worried. If anything else happens, we can leave."
Juliet nodded reluctantly. She then scoured the room with her eyes. It was really in an awful state. The chairs were all missing, and the red curtains ripped. On the wall facing the dining room was a shield, embedded with a coat of arms. The coat of arms depicted a black dragon breathing fire. Sylvia walked around, examining the destroyed house, when something caught her attention. A big painting in a golden frame was on the top of a long staircase, and the frame itself was a portrait of a man. He bore long hair and a short beard, and was dressed in black armor, and a crown sitting on his head. “What a creepy dude”, she thought before returning to the others. “And why did no one nick that gold frame?”
She went to her Jordan, who was looking up the stairs. He was thinking about the lights they had seen. Ralph was paying attention to the dining table. Old wine bottles, glasses and plates were littered on it, either broken or covered in cobwebs.
"This place looks like its been abandoned for years..." he muttered. Juliet came up to him.
"What about Mum and Dad? You told them we were going camping in a safe wood. Not a creepy, disgusting mansion".
“Well, you didn’t have to come along. You did force my hand after all.”
“Well if you weren’t such a prick accepting every bet that comes under your nose maybe we would not be here!”
“Oh, just pipe down.”
Juliet rolled her eyes and went to where the others were sitting down. “Why is this place ‘haunted’ anyway? I don’t know much about it.”
Jordan looked up. “Well, this place has been abandoned for a few weeks, as I said earlier. The proprietor died abroad. Nobody cared, no one knew him very well, he stayed locked up in here all day. The government took all the furniture and sold it, and left the house empty. It was already pretty much in this state when he left it, it would just cost too much to rebuild and sell to anyone. Anyway, a bunch of kids came up here one day. Remember, Henry from down the street? He went there with his mates. They came back as soon as they had climbed the hill.”
“Why?” Juliet interrupted.
“Because they had seen blue lights.” Said Sylvia.
“Yeah.” Said Jordan, looking at the ceiling.
Sylvia yawned.
“Well, it’s getting late, off to bed I suppose.”
They quietly slipped into their pyjamas, it was nearing midnight and they were all tired. Ralph fell asleep almost immediately.

Jordan was unable to sleep. "What were those lights?", he wondered.
Jordan finally got up. He checked his iPod: 11 P.M.
"Those lights were strange..." he muttered to himself. The lights earlier had definitely aroused his curiosity. He grabbed his torch which he had brought with him. He walked up the stairs, carefully stepping on each step as to not make a noise. He finally arrived at the top of the mansion, where a door stood. He hesitated for a moment then opened it.
As he entered he saw a bunch of antiques, candleabras, paintings. In one corner, a big grandfather clock stood. It was stuck at 3 AM. A vase lay in the middle of the room. It was of a jet black, and a black red-eyed dragon on it. There was one thing wrong with it though. It was glowing the same blue light they had seen earlier. He took a step forward, and he heard a crack. He looked down and lifted his foot. He had stepped on a bone. Jordan gave it a quick glance but ignored it, obsessed with the vase. As Jordan made his way towards the vase, fearlessly, but not paying attention to anything but the object, he clumsily slipped and knocked down a chair, which made a big bang. In about minute the others, who had heard Jordan go up, rushed into the room to find Jordan there. His hands were nearing on the vase.
"NO!" shouted Sylvia, making Jordan start.
Jordan knocked the vase over and it fell to the ground. As it fell, he heard a roar loud enough to break a window, the breaking of glass, and then all went black.

As Ralph came to, he slowly opened his eyes. He saw white blobs on a blue background above him. His eyes came to focus.
His entire body throbbed with pain. He lifted his arm. Dried blood coated his arm. He dropped his hand on the ground. Something flew everywhere around his arm as he brought it down. A soft feeling was under him. He turned to see the ground. Sand.
"Oh no. Where am I. (Sorry, got no ideas for his reaction." He tried to remember the latest events before he had blacked out. “Oh right. Jordan dropped the vase and… Then we got here? Which is where? And where are the others? I’d better get up.”
He tried to get to his feet. He shakily lifted himself off the ground, still in shock from whatever had hit him. He could indeed stand up. He could also hear loud noises, like waves. He looked around.
To his right, there was the sea, blue and glistening in the sun. To his left, a forest comprised of thick green trees. He then saw his friends on the floor. He knelled down next to Sylvia, who seemed to have taken the worse of the explosion then anyone else. She had several cuts on her face, not severe but probably painful. He felt her pulse. She was just asleep. He shook her till she opened her eyes.
Sylvia groaned.
"Wh...What happened?"
"Dunno."
"We're...we're on a beach!"
"Yeah. Don’t know where though. I don’t recognize any of this."
“Well, let’s wake the others.”
"I s'pose."
Ralph went to wake up Jordan, and Sylvia to Juliet. As Ralph got up, he looked at the state of the others. Juliet seemed to be bleeding from several cuts from her arms, and Jordan was limping.
"Where.. where are we? We were in the mansion... How?" whispered Juliet.
"We should probably look around. Find some clues as to where the hell we are." suggested Jordan.
They all agreed to go to the forest next to the beach.

After a quarter of an hour of walking in the forest, they found an agreeable place to stay, near a river. It had nice potable water that they could fill their flasks with.
"Okay, now, we need to set up camp." said Ralph.
”We'll need a fire.” added Juliet. "Does anyone have food?"
“No. I did bring the cutlery though, I could use the knife to find food.” Said Jordan.
“You won’t catch anything with that thing.” Said Sylvia, staring at it.
“Better than nothing.” Piped in Juliet. “But anyway, let’s get things done. Ralph, Sylvia, you can go fetch wood for the fire. I’ll set up the sleeping bags and fill our flasks with water. And you Jordan…”
“I’ll look for animals.”
Juliet winced. She was not a vegetarian, but she always hated to hear about animals getting hurt.
“Sure.”
They all ran off to do their respective jobs. Ralph walked next to Sylvia, collecting wood off the floor. Most of it was damp and unusable, but he found some good ones.
“We still have no idea where we are.” He remarked.
“Obviously a forest. D’you think it’s on Earth?”
Ralph shrugged.
For about half an hour they collected wood, until their arms were full with twigs. They made their way back to camp. Juliet had finished making the sleeping bags, and Jordan was sitting in a corner skinning a rabbit he had caught. When he was younger he had lived on a farm, and had learnt how to skin animals and cook them.
Juliet looked at them as they arrived.
“Great! That should be enough to last a long while.”
Jordan turned around. “Yes, but how are we to cook it?”
Juliet thought for a second. “Ralph, didn’t you bring a lighter, in case we needed one in the mansion?”
Ralph realized that he did. He had brought it in case they needed light in the mansion. “Good point.” He fished it out of his pocket and kneeled next to the twigs, which he put in a pile. He lit it on fire. Jordan went to get some more rabbits, and the rest of them went to collect more wood. After about another half hour, they came back. As Jordan was busy roasting the rabbits and they had nothing to do, they started talking.
“Okay. What next? It’s very well that we are in this forest, but let’s face it. If we’re here to stay, we have to figure out where we are and find shelter.” Said Ralph.
“Okay Ralph. We’ll do that tomorrow though, it’s getting dark and we might as well sleep here.”
When Jordan had finally finished cooking, Sylvia took out water bottles from her bag and gave them out. Ralph bit into his rabit. It was nice and juicy, although he always preferred to have condiments with it. Then they went into the sleeping bags that Juliet had set up, and fell asleep.

The next day they got up. Ralph was up before all the others, and took Jordan’s iPod. No signal. Not surprising.
He scrolled through the apps and found a compass one. He clicked on it and brought up a compass. He waited until the others finally got up and showed them the iPod.
“Which way do we go?” he asked.
“North, I suppose.” Said Juliet.
They packed up the sleeping bags and headed north.
Ralph walked in the lead, since he had the compass. The Forest was very damp, it had obviously rained during the night.
Ralph finally saw something between the branches.
“What is that?” he muttered.
“Look like a tower.” replied Sylvia.
The children walked a few more minutes and finally arrived at a large open Gate, surrounded by walls. It was obviously a city. In the middle, there was a huge tower that loomed over the entire area. On a panel near them they could read:
“Kiphil City”
“Kiphil City?” repeated Jordan.
He turned to Juliet. “I may have A’s in Geography, but can’t say I’ve ever heard of Kiphil.” She replied to his stare.
Someone appeared at the gate and started walking towards them. He sported leather clothes, and a long cloak. He also wore a hood which covered most of his face, you could only discern his mouth in the darkness. On his belt Ralph noticed the golden hilt of a sword.
“Good morning.” The man said.
“G-g…good morning.” Stammered Ralph.
The Man stared at them.
“Is the Circus in town?”
“Sorry?”
“Nevermind. I shan’t keep you. You’re here for the festival I suppose?”
“F-festival?”
“The man lifted his head and looked at Ralph strangely. His hood fell back slightly, showing his grey eyes.
“Yes… The festival. Well, I must go. Farewell!”
With this, the man walked away.
The others, who had stayed silent, all looked at Ralph.
“Circus?” repeated Sylvia.
“And what the hell was he wearing? Is this some nerdy LARP place or something?” added Jordan.
“I don’t know… We should find out more. Shall we enter the city?” Suggested Ralph.

Spoiler :

", A déclaré Jordan.
"Great!

"Bonjour." L'homme a dit.
"G-g ... bonjour." Balbutia Ralph.
L'homme regardait fixement.
"Le cirque en ville?"
"Pardon?"
"Nevermind.
"Circus?» Répéta Sylvia.
"Et qu'est-ce que portait-il? Est-ce quelque lieu LARP ringard ou quoi? ", A ajouté la Jordanie.
"Je ne sais pas ... Nous devrions en savoir plus. Allons-nous entrer dans la ville? "Suggéré Ralph.
ALEPPIN- VO
Spoiler :
I shifted uneasily in my seat. I had never liked airplanes. Too cramped for me, too many people and their germs. This particular one was quite small, and the chairs were not very comfortable and the food had been… revolting. I peered out of the window. I could see the Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and a few other landmarks. We we had finally arrived in London. A woman’s voice came out of the intercom:
“We are nearing Heathrow Airport, ladies and gentlemen, we will be landing in a few minutes.”
I leaned back on my chair and fumbled in my pockets, pulling out the e-mail that I had printed from a friend of mine. I looked at it.
"Hey Bectee,
I know you've been planning to move to London but couldn't find a good place. Well, my cousin has decided to share his house with someone! The rent's not too bad, I thought you could check it out:
4 Haverston Street, Kensington."
I then pulled out a map and looked at it in search for the adress. I finally found it and marked it with an X, and put everything away. I then started thinking about how to get there. It would hardly be advisable to trust me in London’s many streets, but my small funds could get me a cab.
A voice snatched me from my thoughts.
"Is everything satisfactory sir?". I turned around, it was a young woman, a stewardess.
"Yes, thanks."
"Buckle your seatbelt please."
Within minutes we landed. I got off the plane and went to Terminal 3, and through security. With my natural good luck, I had forgotten my passport on the plane and had to wait for an hour to get it back. The Terminal was like any other, filled with shops and restaurants. I collected my luggage and exited the airport. As I got out I breathed in the air. Not very refreshing, but good enough after such a long and stuffy flight. I patiently waited for a taxi, until it finally turned up. I ventured up to it.
"Hello?" I said.
"Good Evening sir."
"Yes, could you take me to London please?”
He nodded and got off the car and put my luggage in the car boot. He got back into his seat and I seated myself next to him.
"Where to?"
"Er, 4 Haverston Street, Kensington."
"Okay."
The cab ride from the airport to my new home was uneventful. I was so tired that I just eventually nodded off. I was abruptly woken by a tap on the shoulder.
"Mr. Rotins? We're here."
"Ah, thank you."
I stepped out and took out my wallet, handing him the money I owed him. I turned around.
A block of flats stood in front of me. I saw the number plate four and walked up to the door. The block was quite nice, it stood about 3 stories high. It was made of clean brown bricks. The door in front of me was Olive green, and had a small slit saying “NO PUBLICITY” for mail.
I rang the doorbell that said 'Slush'. I heard the sound of running footsteps, and moments later a man flung the door open.
He was fairly tall, about 5’9. He had dark brown hair that was slicked back, framing a young face. He was in his thirties and wore a grey suit.
He beamed at me and shook my hand vigourously.
“Ah, yes. My cousin warned me of an impeding visit. Mr…?”
“Rotins. Becterand Rotins.”
“Yes, yes. Of course, Mr. Rotins. Well, my name is Aleppin Slush. Shall I show you around the flat?”
“Yes, thank you.”
I entered. The wallpapers were white but slightly dirty in places. He led me into what appeared to be the living room. I looked around.
Several strange and wonderful objects lay around. In one corner stood a fireplace and mantelpiece. On the mantelpiece was a golden-framed mirror, which was cracked in places. A small sofa stood in the middle of the room, in front of a small coffee table littered with papers and books. He dashed to the table and cleared the mess. A small table was covered in chemistry equipment and a bone.
“Coffee?” he asked.
“No thanks.” I said, yawning.
“When you're tired, there's nothing better. And I can see you’re tired.”
“Oh?” I asked, bemused.
“Yes. I can see you woke up late for your flight, your hair is uncombed. You have bags under your eyes, you are obviously tired. You did not have time to shave or eat, for I can see you even now staring at the food on this plate.” He said, nodding at the food on the coffee table.
I was amazed. “How…?”
“I’ll explain later.” he said, grinning. He led me into a small room, with just a bed and a window. “This will be your room, if you agree to it. Quite empty now, but you can fill it with furniture à volonté.”
“Wonderful.” I replied.
“I see you have luggage.”
“I do. Only clothes, though. I sold all the furniture in my studio, I couldn’t be bothered to lug them all from Canada to here.”
“Good. Well, it is late, I shall let you retire. I, myself, have some experiments to conduct.”
I was very tempted to ask what experiments, but I figured I’d find out soon enough. I took out my clothes and put them in the wardrobe and dropped onto the bed, fully clothed, and fell asleep almost immediately.

As I woke up in the morning, around 10 A.M, I entered the living room to find him already arisen, deep in thought and scribbling rapidly on a piece of paper.
“Morning’.” I ventured.
“Good Morning. Slept well?”
“Yes, thank you.”
“Good.”

Spoiler :
4 Haverston Street, Kensington. "
"Bonjour?" Je l'ai dit.
"Good Evening monsieur."
"Euh, 4 Haverston Street, Kensington."
"D'accord."
Je me suis retourné.

"Matin". Hasardai-je.
"Good Morning. Bien dormi? "

"After a quarter of an hour of walking in the forest, they found an agreeable place to stay, near a river."

Agreeable.
